Athletic Trainer for Saugatuck Public Schools
Licensed Athletic Trainer for Holland Hospital Phone: 616-610-9871 Email: [email protected] |
My name is Jacob Schultz, and I am your Saugatuck Athletic Trainer. I graduated with my Bachelor of Science degree in Clinical Exercise Science from Grand Valley State University and my Master of Athletic Training degree from Grand Valley State University. I am contracted to Saugatuck from Holland Hospital. As an employee of Holland Hospital, I have more direct access to area physicians and health care providers that I might otherwise not, and it also gives me the opportunity to work with other area athletic trainers at surrounding schools. Working with the other AT’s keeps me updated, and helps to teach me new techniques and allows for continued learning within the field.
While I was at GVSU, I had the opportunity to work with collegiate level basketball, soccer, tennis, and baseball. I also have experience at Zeeland East High School and West Ottawa High school before coming to Saugatuck. I chose to continue to stay within the high school setting because I like having the ability to educate kids on their injuries and seeing them develop as athletes grow into young adults as they get older. I especially like smaller schools because it gives me the chance to individually get to know each athlete and their families.
I am nationally certified by the Board of Certification (BOC) in Athletic Training, and also hold a license to practice athletic training in the state of Michigan. I currently serve on the National Athletic Trainers' Association Early Professionals Committee as the District 4 representative.
